Derek and Etta Hewit, the owners of Dungbeetle Tours and Dungbeetle River Lodge are qualified nature guides and have an excellent knowledge of what the Greater Addo Elephant National Park and surrounding areas offer visitors.
They have compiled a variety of activities and adventures in the Greater Addo area to ensure that visitors have a pleasant and unforgettable time whatever their interest may be.

Our guides are Mike, Derek and Etta. They look forward to share their knowledge of what the Greater Addo Elephant National Park and surrounding areas offer visitors. Between the 3 guides at the Lodge they have effectively been involved with nature and SANParks for 54 years. With their input you are sure to experience a pleasant and unforgettable time.
Derek and Etta Hewitt
Took their NQF2 Nature Site Guide exams in March, 2009. They were the first guides to qualify for the whole of Addo Elephant National Park. From the Sea right through the park to the 4 x 4 and Darlington Dam. They have actively been game guides for 13 years.
Mike
Was actively involved with SANPARKS for 28 years: Kruger, Kalahari Gemsbok, Mountain Zebra, Augrabies Falls National Park in the capacity of Technical services, game ranger, nature conservation and finally took his Addo Elephant National Park's Nature Guide exam for open and closed vehicles in 2017.
